Get ready to enjoy great music, fabulous food and good times with family and friends. The 2010 Festival of Flight is just around the corner and it’s going to be fun for all ages! From the Opening Ceremonies with kids’ favorite Diego to the last bang of the breathtaking fireworks, the 24th Annual Festival of Flight will be the highlight of the summer here in Gander!

Slated to run from Thursday, July 29, through Monday, August 2, the action-packed schedule includes a few changes. NL’s Biggest Kitchen Party has been moved to Friday, July 30, to accommodate a large concert on Saturday, July 31, and the popular Festival Parade has been moved to Monday, August 2 (Gander Day), to encourage more businesses and organizations to get involved. Our theme for this year’s Festival and Parade is “It Takes a Community” and it sure does take many people to organize our fantastic Festival.

We are also working to add more aviation-themed events to the Festival, so keep checking back to see updates on all the activities and festivities as things fall into place to make the 2010 Festival one of the best!

"NEWFOUNDLAND'S BIGGEST KITCHEN PARTY"

The 2010 Kitchen Party takes place Friday, July 30, at the Gander Community Centre, featuring 'Billy and the Bruisers', 'Kujo' and 'Stixx and Stones'. Doors open at 9 p.m. and proper ID is required.

FESTIVAL ROAD CLOSURES

The public is advised that Magee Road will be closed to through traffic from McCurdy Drive intersection to Airport Boulevard intersection:

- on July 31 for the “That Show in Gander” concert featuring the Wonderful Grand Band; and
- Monday, August 2, from 11 a.m. to midnight for Gander Day.
