![]() In 2008, the Town of Gander celebrates its 50th anniversary as an incorporated municipality. A full year of special events and heritage projects is being planned for what promises to be a fun and exciting Come Home Year for former Ganderites scattered around the globe, as well as local residents and visitors. Gander has much to celebrate. From its inception, the Town has remained in the forefront of science and technology, in fields ranging from aerospace and communications to waste disposal and environmental stewardship. It has likewise taken a leading role in social programming, offering a quality of life that has bolstered consumer confidence and stabilized housing prices through numerous crises, both real and perceived, to the extent that MoneySense magazine recently listed Gander as one of the top 10 places to live in all of Canada.
