HISTORIC PHOTOS OF GANDER The 50th Anniversary Committee is seeking photographs of Gander’s History for a video presentation that will be shown throughout the Anniversary events in 2008. If you have any photographs, you can bring them to the Administration Office at the Gander Community Centre. The pictures will be scanned and returned to you the same day. TREE & PARK BENCH MEMORIAL PROGRAM The Civic Enhancement Committee, in conjunction with the Town of Gander’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, has adopted a Memorial Park Bench and Tree Placement Program for public and business participation. The project will serve as a remembrance to the many people who helped make Gander the vibrant community it is today and, in addition, it will increase the number of trees within the town. If you are interested in purchasing a tree or park bench in memory of a family member or friend, please call Mr. Glenn Blandford at 256-4765 or Ms. Diane Lomond at 256-4959 for more information. 50TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER TICKETS The 50th Anniversary Dinner is being held at Hotel Gander on Thursday, May 22. Tickets cost $25.00 each and are on sale at the Gander Community Centre Administration Office or at the Town Hall. A limited number of tickets are available and will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Dress is semi-formal and the dinner consists of a three course meal, video presentation and special guest speaker, Kevin Blackmore. For more information, call 651-5927. CELEBRATE CANADA DAY 2008 The Town of Gander would like to invite local groups to participate and organize an activity to celebrate Canada Day 2008. Canada’s 141st birthday will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 1st. Join in the fun and organize an event for your group or the public. Some seed funding is available for community events.
