Gina Brown was born in Halifax , NS and moved to Gander in 2000. Born into a military family, Gina obtained the rank of Leading Seaman with the Royal Canadian Reserve Division. In 1991, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Memorial University of Newfoundland and in 1994 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University. She is married to Steve and they have three children.
Following her schooling, Gina worked as a physiotherapist at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s and in a private practice in Central Newfoundland. She also became co-owner/operator of a physiotherapy work rehab clinic. In 2003, she began a career as a TV host/producer with Rogers TV for Gander’s ‘Skyways’ program.
Ms. Brown was elected to the Gander Town Council in the 2017 Municipal Election.
Councillor Brown is the Chair of the Economic Development, Tourism and Culture Committee and is a member of the Public Works and Services Committee and the Finance and Administration Committee. She is also Council’s representative on the North Atlantic Aviation Museum, the Roads to End Violence Committee and the Gander & Area Chamber of Commerce.
Councillor Brown has a strong background in volunteering. She served as an Executive member of the Gander Minor Hockey Association (2010-2012), she was the Central NL Representative on the Provincial Board of the Eating Disorder Foundation of NL (2012-2014). She has also donated a number of artworks over the years to aid in the fundraising efforts of non-profit organizations such as Gander Wings Special Olympics, Central Northeast Health Foundation, Gander Rotary Club, Cara House, Broadening Horizons, Gander Breakfast Program and Beyond the Overpass Youth Theatre.
