Due to the restrictions related to COVID-19 and the Chief Medical Officer’s advice to not have mass gatherings, the Recreation Department is in the process of cancelling several events that were planned for the summer of 2020.
These events include Canada Day, Ride for Sight, Geek Fest and the Festival of Flight. The Department is still working on ways to host something for Canada Day and the Festival of Flight whether it be virtually or combining it with some other event...

Please be advised of the following updates regarding the bulk waste:
Spring Clean Up: The new dates for the postponed Spring Clean Up are September 28-October 9, 2020. The event will proceed as a typical Spring Clean Up and a full set of guidelines will be provided to residents prior to the event.
Waste Transfer Station: The Waste Transfer Station will resume operations, with the event on May 30 th . Users are asked to be patient as new procedures may add to processing...

Central Newfoundland Waste Management is advising residents that the Sort IT Central Recycling program will resume on Monday, May 4, 2020. Residents are asked to have their blue bags out by 8 a.m. on their regular collection day.
The Material Recycling Facility has put its precautionary measures in place for the protection of their employees and deliveries. The facility will begin processing on Monday, May 4, 2020.

The Town of Gander is advising residents that the systematic flushing of all main water lines will start April 27, 2020 and will continue until late June. This will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
