Ready to respond to any emergency, Gander Fire Rescue is a fully equipped modern firefighting and rescue service with a normal compliment of approximately 10 full time and part time staff, in addition to roughly 40 volunteer members.
The department also monitors many private and government building alarm systems, as well as direct lines to police and ambulance.
Located at 85 Raynham Avenue, the department is equipped with two triple combination pumper trucks, one quint aerial ladder/pumper, one rescue/pumper, one pumper, a multi-function mobile command vehicle, a four wheel drive pick-up, as well as vehicles for the Fire Chief and Fire Inspector.
The department serves the community of Gander and provides response to local area highways to perform rescue services.

The station also houses the administrative offices of the Fire Chief & Fire Inspector, communications room, training/social room, kitchen, breathing air compressor/SCBA repair room, admin, OH&S, and equipment repair/storage areas. Facilities are provided for the career staff and volunteers.
The communications room contains the fire phones, alarm monitoring panel, emergency elevator telephones, as well as multi-channel radio system connecting the department to Municipal Works, Police, Ambulance, other fire agencies, as well as the Firefighter call-out pager/dispatch system. Direct lines connect the department to the Hospital Emergency Department. Events are recorded on a computerized recording system and, in the event of a power failure, the building is pre-wired and connected to a gas-powered generator system. The department also monitors critical pump and lift stations for the municipality, as well as being the after hours Call Centre for the Town of Gander.
Gander Fire Rescue operates its own training school located just west of the community and is recognized by the provincial fire authorities for certification of firefighters.
Additionally, the department provides fire inspection services within the community, as well as fire prevention and fire safety education. Due to the high quality of fire and rescue services, training, equipment, and other efforts, insurance underwriters for a fire department in its category have given the Town of Gander the highest rating allowable.

The Gander Detachment is comprised of twelve officers and two civilians with responsibilities for general law enforcement duties in the Gander area. The detachment's jurisdiction includes the Town of Gander, the region west to the Glenwood overpass and east to the Gambo overpass. Gander District Headquarters also includes a number of specialist units. These include a General Investigation Unit (GIU), Federal Enforcement Section, Drug Section, and the RCMP Communications Centre. In addition, a separate RCMP facility located at Gander International Airport houses a National Security Intelligence Section, and a three-man Telecommunications Workshop. The Town's Municipal Enforcement Officers enforce all municipal regulations and perform duties that include traffic enforcement, school safety monitoring and protection of homes and businesses, as well as animal control services.
The Town of Gander Municipal Enforcement Department has a small force who enforces all municipal regulations within the Town's boundaries. These duties include traffic enforcement, school safety monitoring, protection of homes and businesses, as well as animal control services. The Municipal Police Department's office is located at the Fire Hall, 85 Raynham Avenue. The Municipal Force also deals with:
