In addition to its core personnel, the department undertakes the vital responsibility of overseeing numerous alarm systems within both private and government-owned structures. Furthermore, it maintains direct communication lines with law enforcement and ambulance services, enhancing its efficiency in coordinating emergency responses.

Situated at 85 Raynham Avenue, Gander Fire Rescue is outfitted with a range of specialized vehicles designed to handle diverse scenarios. These include two triple combination pumper trucks, a quint aerial ladder/pumper, a versatile rescue/pumper unit, an additional pumper, a multi-functional mobile command vehicle, a rugged four-wheel drive pickup truck, as well as dedicated vehicles for the Fire Chief and Fire Inspector.

The jurisdiction of this department encompasses the community of Gander, where it serves as a vital lifeline for immediate intervention. Moreover, the department extends its coverage to encompass local highways, ensuring its capacity to execute vital rescue operations in those areas as well.

Gander Fire Rescue operates its own training school located just west of the community and is recognized by the provincial fire authorities for certification of firefighters.

Additionally, the department provides fire inspection services within the community, as well as fire prevention and fire safety education.
