Annual Events

Annual celebrations are held on Canada Day, July 1st. There are music, vendors, prizes, games and more! More information is available prior to the event each year.

The Town of Gander hosts a Concert in the Park every week during the summer months. Grab a friend, a picnic blanket, maybe lunch and head down to Cobb's Pond Rotary Park for some free live entertainment. This event is free!

Take in Gander’s premier summertime event – the Festival of Flight! For over 30 years, families have flocked to this must-attend festival filled with exciting and fun activities.  From the delightful Kids Picnic at the Airport to the smashing Demolition Derby, soft sounds at the Gospel Concert, and upbeat MusicFest, there's something for everyone! Don't forget to join us for Newfoundland's Biggest Kitchen Party where your feet will be tapping, and your hands will be clapping.  Mark your calendars for Gander Day on the first Monday in August and stay until the end to see a breathtaking fireworks display that some say is the biggest in Newfoundland! This is central NL’s only celebration of the Geek Culture.  It’s a weekend filled with Cosplay, crafts, games vendors and so much more.  Held annually at the Steele Community Center.  Gander Geek Fest is a weekend filled with fun and excitement, there’s sure to be something for everyone.  There are weekend and Day passes available.  For more details follow Gander Geek Fest on Facebook. 

Gander Pride hosts Pride Week every year during the summer months. More details can be found on their Facebook Page @ganderpride.

Each year, Gander hosts the NL Ride for Sight. Motorcycle enthusiasts from across the province gather to help raise funds to fight against blindness.

Gander’s annual Winter Carnival normally takes place on the 3rd weekend in February and includes a marvelous mix of indoor and outdoor activities. Make sure to bring your warmest snowsuit for sledding, clothes to “get messy” in, a thinking cap for the trivia contest, and a roasting stick for marshmallows. You can also enjoy a “games night”, Seniors Tea and more - this event offers something for all ages!
