In 2025, the Town of Gander transitioned to a Committee of the Whole governance model, replacing the previous structure where standing committees were aligned with municipal departments. This new model brings all members of Council together to discuss municipal matters collectively, fostering better collaboration and a more streamlined decision-making process.

Regular Meetings of Council are open to the public and are broadcast live by Rogers Television on its community channel and website. Meetings are broadcast beginning at 4:00 pm and repeated the following Sunday beginning at 5:30 pm
