Discretionary Notice

Notice is hereby given that the Town Council of Gander has received a Development Application to operate / utilize a quarry approximately 24 km east of Gander, adjacent Denty's Pit.

 

Anyone wishing to make representation on this matter must do so in writing and the representation must be received by the Engineering Department, Town of Gander, no later than 12:00 noon, Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Development Regulations Amendment Open House

It is Council’s intention to remove the current maximum height restriction of 15.0 metres
for apartment buildings in the following zones:
Residential Medium Density, Residential High Density-1, Residential High Density-2, Town Centre, Commercial General and Commercial Local.

Additionally, it is Council’s intention to remove the maximum height restriction of 15.0 metres
for non-residential buildings in the following zones:
Rural Residential, Town Centre, Commercial General, Commercial Shopping Centre, Commercial Highway, Commercial Local, Commercial Light Industrial, Industrial General and Public Institutional.

An open house regarding this matter will be held in the Council Chambers at the Town Hall,
September 24, 2024, commencing at 2:00 pm

Water Main Flushing

The Town of Gander is advising residents that the systematic flushing of all main water lines will start September 3, 2024, and will continue until November 15, 2024. This will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

During this period, residents may experience fluctuating water pressure, discoloration, or debris in the water lines. If this occurs, run the water until clear, then remove faucet aerators and carefully flush any debris from screens and washers, ensuring that all parts are reassembled in the correct order and orientation.

It is not recommended to wash laundry between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to avoid the possibility of staining.

The purpose of this flushing is to provide a higher quality of water.

Discretionary Notice

Notice is hereby given that Council has received an application from SC Developments Limited to operate a home office for a general contracting business from 73 Yeager Street.

It is noted that home occupation is permitted as a “discretionary use” for the zone in which this property is located.
