FoodCycler

Purpose of the Program

The Town of Gander is proud to announce the launch of a pilot project, in partnership with Food Cycle Science, to introduce an innovative solution for managing food waste at home.

The FoodCycler is a compact, countertop appliance designed to revolutionize household food waste management. In just a few hours, it transforms a wide variety of food scraps into a dry, odorless, and nutrient-rich material called Foodilizer. This is achieved through a quiet, energy-efficient process of grinding, heating, and drying, which reduces the volume of food waste by up to 90%.

By diverting food scraps from landfills, the FoodCycler helps reduce harmful methane gas emissions. The resulting Foodilizer can be added to gardens, lawns, or potted plants, enriching the soil and providing a simple, sustainable way to manage organic waste at home.

How the Program Works

To participate, residents can purchase a highly subsidized FoodCycler from Town Hall, track their usage for 12 weeks, and complete a total of 3 surveys after weeks 12, 24 and 36.
