Water Conservation Notice for Gander - August 13, 2025Water Conservation Notice for Gander - August 13, 2025We love our beautiful, deep Gander Lake. It’s big, clean, and serves us well but our water systems can only treat and pump so much at a time. Using a little less at home helps support the services we all count on.To help reduce demand, we’re asking residents to:- Water lawns on even-numbered days if your house number is even.- Water lawns on odd-numbered days if your house number is odd.- Keep lawn watering to no more than 1 hour per day.Simple ways to save water:- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth- Only run the dishwasher or washing machine when full- Take shorter showers- Fix any drips or leaks around the house- Turn off hoses and outdoor taps when not in use- Let your lawn go a bit longer between waterings- Use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways or decksWe appreciate everyone’s cooperation. Conserving water now helps ensure it’s available when we need it most.

Important Gander Day Update
The Town of Gander advises residents and visitors that, due to the very high fire weather index and heightened wildfire risk across the province, the fireworks display scheduled for Gander Day has been cancelled.
While we recognize this may be disappointing, fireworks represent a small portion - approximately 15 minutes - of what is otherwise a full day of community celebration. Gander Day festivities will continue as planned, with a wide variety of family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon and evening.
Attendees can also look forward to an evening of live music, featuring performances by Neon Dreams, Carolina East, Kellie Loder, and more.
This decision has been made in the interest of public safety, environmental responsibility, and out of respect for the fire crews, forestry personnel, and first responders currently working across the province in challenging conditions.
We appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation, and we encourage everyone to come out, bring their lawn chairs, and enjoy a safe and memorable Gander Day.
