  • Airport Boulevard Traffic Notice: September 14–16, 2026

    Please be advised that construction work will take place on Airport Boulevard from Monday, September 14 to Wednesday, September 16, 2026, as part of ongoing water and sewer infrastructure upgrades.

    On Monday, September 14, one lane of Airport Boulevard, closest to Sullivan Avenue, will be closed to accommodate water and sewer upgrades. Motorists should expect delays and use caution in the area.

    On Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16, a section of Airport Boulevard will be closed to traffic to facilitate water and sewer upgrades.

    During the closure, motorists will be detoured via Stadium Road → Bell Place → Elizabeth Drive → Airport Boulevard/Elizabeth Drive traffic lights.

    Large vehicles and commercial traffic will be required to use Fraser Road as an alternate route.

    Motorists are asked to plan accordingly, allow additional travel time, follow all posted traffic control signage and use caution in the construction area.

  • TARGA NEWFOUNDLAND – ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE

    Targa Newfoundland will be taking place in Gander on Tuesday, September 15, with two runs scheduled along the Come From Away Memorial Stage route.

    Roads along the route shown on the map will be closed from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

    For everyone’s safety, do not drive or walk on the route while roads are closed. Please follow all posted signage, safety tape and directions from Targa officials.

    Residents and motorists are encouraged to review the route in advance and plan accordingly.

    WATER SHUT OFF & ROAD CLOSURE: September 10, 2026

    Please be advised that there will be a water shut off tomorrow, September 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., affecting 85–97 Rickenbacker Road.

    During this time, Rickenbacker Road will also be closed in the work area, with traffic detoured via Mollison Crescent.

    Motorists are asked to use caution in the area and follow all posted signage.

    It is noted that home occupation is permitted as a “discretionary use” for the zone in which this property is located.

  • Water Main Flushing: Sept 9 - late October

    The Town of Gander advises residents that the systematic flushing of all main water lines will begin tomorrow September 9 continuing until late October. Flushing operations take place daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    During this period, residents may experience fluctuating water pressure, discoloured water, or debris in the water lines. If this occurs, run the water until it clears, then remove faucet aerators and carefully flush any debris from screens and washers, ensuring all parts are reassembled in the correct order and orientation.

    Residents are advised to avoid washing laundry between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. while water main flushing is active in their area to prevent possible staining.

    The purpose of this flushing program is to help maintain and improve water quality.

    A traffic advisory will also be in effect from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 111 Airport Boulevard.

    During this time, Boyd Street will be restricted to local traffic only.
